Administering Medication

Members of staff will be able to give basic first aid to children who become injured at school.

Any treatment given will be recorded in the First Aid book.

The school has several members of staff who are qualified First Aiders, a list of whom is displayed in several locations within the school.

Children who are ill in school may need to be collected and taken home. If your child is suffering from sickness or diarrhoea we ask you to keep them at home for 48 hours after the last bout.

If your child requires medicine such as antibiotics during the school day, parents/carers are required to come into school to administer the medication. If however this is not possible, alternate arrangements may be made through a member of the leadership team.

Children are allowed to bring inhalers into school. However a form will need to be completed by the child’s parents/carers and inhalers must be named. It is expected that children can self administer their inhaler. If this is not the case, a health plan will need to be drawn up.
